2009 was an eventful year for Yemen LNG Company, with many significant events and achievements. 2009 will be remembered as a year when the Company secured a spot in the world LNG market. From production to exportation, major events of 2009 included:

27 Feb: Completion of Yemen LNG fleet of chartered vessels.

28 May: Yemen LNG Company participated in the annual GASTECH conference organised in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

15 Jun: Kick off of Yemen LNG’s Scholarship Programme.

06 Aug: Yemen LNG won the Safety Friend Prize by Yemen’s Ministry of Health and Population in recognition for its efforts to minimize potential for accidents and injuries. The prize was announced during the 1st Scientific Conference on Preventing Work Accidents held in Sanaa.

05 Oct: Yemen LNG participated at the 24th World Gas Conference organised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. One day later, the Minister of Oil and Minerals Amir al-Aidarous opened the Company’s booth at the exhibition.

15 Oct: Yemen LNG Company started producing LNG from its liquefaction terminal in Balhaf. The event was described as a major milestone achievement.

07 Nov: First gas export launched in a big ceremony. The ceremony was attended by President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Prime Minister and a number of high-ranking officials.
