Yemen LNG signed on 3rd November 2012 a contract with Al-Nawras Association for the construction of a boat/boat engine workshop in the town of Bir Ali, a few kilometers away from the Balhaf Plant. The workshop, which will benefit the fishermen of Bir Ali and the neighboring fishing communities, will consist of a yard for boat repair, a store for tools, a reception office and its facilities.

About 650 fishermen will be spared the trips to Mukalla or Shiher in Hadhramout for boat repair. When construction is completed, the workshop will be run by the local NGO, Al-Nawras Association.
