Balhaf – In the presence of H.E. Minister of Public Health & Housing, Dr. Ahmed Al-Anssi, and the Governor of Shabwah, Mr. Ahmed BaHaj, Yemen LNG General Manager Mr. Jacques Azibert announced the commencement of the construction works at the Ain BaMaabad Rural Hospital and the launch of the anti-dengue fever, anti-malaria spraying campaign.

Funded by Yemen LNG, the Ain BaMaabad Rural Hospital in the district of Rudhum, Shabwah, will have 30 beds and will provide medical services to over 15,000 people in the district of Rudhum and the neighboring districts.

At the same event, a spraying campaign was launched in partnership with the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) to fight malaria and dengue fever in the coastal areas of Shabwah, targeting over 40,000 inhabitants. Yemen LNG has contributed with the supply of spray equipment and prepared the awareness materials which have been distributed by the NMCP prior to the launch of the spray campaign.

In his remarks, General Manager of Yemen LNG Mr. Azibert stated that, “this partnership symbolizes the necessity for initiatives on local health problems”. “This project”, he added, “will make a significant contribution to Rudhum and the neighboring districts and pave the way for greater control, improved prevention and enhanced care for the benefit of our neighboring communities”. “Projects such as this”, Mr. Azibert emphasized, “as well as others can only be realized in a stable economic climate together with security for people and facilities”.

On his part, Minister of Health Dr. Al-Anssi, highlighted the role that partnership between the private and public sector can play in improving the living conditions of communities. “Governments all over the world”, the Minister said, “can’t respond effectively to the needs of their people without successful partnerships with the private sector and the people”.

In his speech, the Governor of Shabwa Mr. Ahmad Bahaj, highlighted the level of partnership between the Governorate of Shabwa and Yemen LNG in developing projects which respond to the needs of target communities. “Ain BaMabaad Hospital, once complete, will serve a large community not only in the district of Rudhoum but in other districts, improving therefore the health conditions and service standards in general”.
