27 February 2013In cooperation with Women Development Association and Shabwa Cooperative Agricultural Association, Yemen LNG launched this Monday 25 February the first training workshop on developing Small and Micro Enterprises (SME) for civil society organizations in the governorate of Shabwa. The aim of the training is to introduce SME world, Yemen LNG strategy and loan guidelines and methodology. 20 participants attended the 3-day training, 19 of them representing 6 local associations, two Yemen LNG field staff and one from Faculty of Education in Ataq . At the opening session, Secretary-General of Shabwa Local Council Mr. Abed Rabu Hashla praised Yemen LNG for its role in supporting rural communities around its operations, wishing such support would be extended to include the entire governorate. The opening session was also attended by deputy governor of Shabwa Mr. Naser Al-Swadi, deputy director of Labor Office Mr. Rabee Lahsan, Small Micro Enterprises development Advisor Mr. Abdullah Rashed, and representatives from Yemen LNG and local media. It should be noted that the SME project was launched by Yemen LNG in 2012 and it covers 7 villages in 3 Right of Way districts with total beneficiaries of 122 loaners, 78% of them are women and 22% men.
