13 March 2013Yemen LNG celebrated the International Women’s Day at its main office in Sana’a together with its lady members of staff and in the presence of lady government officials, including Assistant Deputy Minister of Oil and Minerals for Gas Affairs Mrs. Nada Aman, and representatives of civil society organizations partnering with Yemen LNG, for the development of Yemeni women. The winner of the Yemen LNG Balqis Award for 2013 was also announced during this high-profile event. “International Women’s Day is not about asserting the superiority of one gender over the other,” said Yemen LNG General Manager Jacque Azibert at the event. “This day is to commemorate the contribution of women in all walks of life and their contribution to society at large and to our Company – Yemen LNG.” Mr. Azibert commended the role of Yemen LNG lady members of staff in the establishment of Yemen LNG from start and during the operational phase. “Along with their male colleagues, lady members of staff have made the Yemen LNG dream come true,” he stressed. During the ceremony, Yemen LNG Balqis Award 2013 - $20,000 in value - was presented to the late Jamalah Al-Baidhani and her association, the Challenge Association of Physically Disabled Women, in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the development of Yemeni women in a difficult environment. It should be noted that the first Balqis Award was presented in 2012 to the Al-Aman Association for Blind Women Care for their outstanding educational, health, and social services to the blind since 1999. Yemen LNG has strong partnerships with a number of women civil organizations in Sana’a, Shabwa and Marib governorates.
