14 January 2014Yemen LNG signed on 12 January a contract with Yemen Center for Social Studies and Labor Research (YCSSLR) to conduct household and need assessment surveys in the targeted villages along the gas pipeline and around Yemen LNG Plant in Balhaf, Shabwah Governorate. The field surveys will collect data through face-to-face interviews in 116 villages and settlements along the Right of Way and around Balhaf Plant. Local residents will act as interviewers within the survey teams to ensure easy access to households. The topics included in the questionnaire will identify the pros and cons of Yemen LNG’s five-year integrated sustainable development strategy (2008-2013) and will identify current needs in a broad domain of fields, such as infrastructure, economic and social development, women development, and humanitarian support. The survey process will continue for 100 days as of mid-January 2014 and results will be used in the planning and formation of the second five-year sustainable development strategy (2014-2019). Speaking on the occasion, Corporate Affairs Manager Jamal Al-Akwaa noted, “this survey is a two-way communication tool: the targeted communities can convey their needs and we can hear their voice and bring to them focused and accessible projects”. Founded in 1996, the Yemen Center for Social Studies and Labor Research is a local leading research institution based in Sana’a, providing researches, surveys and studies in the social and labor sector.
