On 26 May 2008, Yemen LNG pipeline team has successfully completed the last automatic welding on the construction of a 38-inch 322 km Main pipeline to transfer feed gas from the Marib processing centres to the natural gas liquefaction plant being constructed at Balhaf as well as a 30-inch 25 km transfer line to connect the two gas processing centres in Marib, Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Al-Kamil Processing Unit (KPU).

The automatic welding process, which started on 3 February 2007, has therefore concluded with a high quality of welding execution (defective welds repaired were less than 2% of total weld length) .This rate is among the best records in pipeline industry practice.
